Ali graduated in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brooks University, UK. He further pursued his studies and was awarded an ACCA qualification.
Ali started his working career in 2009 as an auditor with leading audit firm Ernst & Young where he gained considerable experience in auditing, assurance and business advisory services in the Financial, Manufacturing and Services sector. He was involved in business assessment and risk assessment planning, also leading a team of audit staff of up to fifty members, preparing financial statements, scoping and assessing key risk areas, developing and implementing plans, reviewing internal control systems and preparing system documents. During his employment with Ernst &Young, Ali received an accolade as employee of the year.
In 2012, Ali moved to Crowe Horwath Malta gaining extensive understanding of Maltese Taxation Laws and Regulations. During this period he was involved in engagement planning, supervision of audit teams, setting audit objectives, identification of audit strategies, compliance with audit methodologies and ensuring that the financial statements were prepared in accordance with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Ali joined OHL as Assistant Financial Controller in April 2014 and was responsible for issuing monthly reports review, supervision of day to day tasks and updating of accounting records. In 2015, Ali was promoted to Head of Finance, managing all the accounts departments of OHL International Operations.
In addition to overseeing the day to day operations, Ali monitors all aspects of financial control in the Company, prepares and presents management accounts, budgets and forecasts to the Board of Directors, is involved in business planning and projections and P&L presentation, reviews new business models and capital appropriation requests.
